Cancer Research is Essential
Cancer research is the study of abnormal cells. As i have been stated in Cytogenetics and Cancer Research, the malignant cancer cells will harm to our body and invade to other adjacent cells. The scientists do the cancer research to find out how the malignant cells harm us. All cells in our body replicate themselves including the malignant cells. This usually undergoes about 50 times before the cell dies. The difference between the normal cells and malignant cells is the malignant cells grow in an irregular pattern. In cancer research, we discover that these malignant cells can infiltrate to the surrounding tissue through the lymphatics and blood vessels. After infiltrating into these vessels, the malignant cancer cells can be carried to other sites throughout our body, where they will replicate and grow. We called this as metastatic spread.
Cancer Cells Can Spread in 2 Ways
1) Lymphatic Spread
After the malignant cancer cells enter the lymphatic system, they will travel along the lymphatic vessels to the lymph nodes. The malignant cancer cells can then stay in these nodes and replicate. Consequently, the lymph node will be replaced with a malignant tumour. What we know from cancer research are these malignant cancer cells will continuously to travel to the next group of lymph nodes via the lymphatic system, thereby spreading the malignancy throughout the body. Lymphomas and carcinoma of the head and neck are two examples of where cancer commonly spreads through lymphatic vessel.
2) Blood Spread
The vascular system of our body can be infiltrated by the malignant cancer cells too. The malignant cancer cells travel along the blood vessels until they reach a place that allows them to become lodged. Subsequently, they will replicate themselves to form a metastatic deposit. Then, the malignant cells will migrate again via the smaller blood vessels which are the capillaries. For example, melanoma and some small carcinoma cells of the lung are the malignant cells that related to blood spread. The most common region of malignant cancer cells for blood spread is the liver. Others common sites for this metastatic spread are breast, melanoma, lung and urological cancers. Sometimes, the malignant cancer cells can trigger an inflammatory response and consequently results in serious exudates.
Why the Malignant Cancer Cells spread according to Cancer Research?
According to cancer research, the malignant cancer cells replicate and spread to other adjacent cells in order to ensure themselves receive sustainance they need to live. This is the formation of new blood vessels called angiogenesis. Thus, even though some of the cancers can be treated after doing cancer research, we have to prevent from it! Leading a healthy life is the first criteria to get rid of cancer.
